Yellow and Gray Decor Room Makeover

Last month my friend Sally asked me to help her decorate her apartment. She is a busy military officer and needed help putting her apartment together for upcoming entertaining commitments. I was so excited to work with her! She already had the couch, chairs, rugs coffee table and entertainment center, all great pieces to start with. We got together a few times to discuss what she envisioned and came up with a plan. Then we got  to shopping, styling and putting the room together and here is the final product :-)

here are some before and afters:

To address the blank walls we added gallery wall arts on both the living room and dinning room.
In the dinning room the wall was inspired by wine, which is one of Sally's favorite drinks. We have one more thing to finish in the dining room and it is a custom side table that will hold the wine fridge that you see in the picture below. (I will post pictures of that once its complete :-)

When decorating it is always important to surround yourself with things that you love and make you happy, that's why I tried to include as many of Sally's interests in the decor.  Sally and her husband are the ultimate Disney fans, obviously we had to include touches of disney here and there. In the dining room you can see it by the Ratatouille picture and for the living room we found a beautiful photograph of Disney's castle with accents in yellow. We love it because it complements the color palette so well and it's sophisticated and not cartoonish Disney if you know what I mean ;-) I also added walt disney quotes to the wall art and on the shelves as well as some disney figurines. Similarly, Sally loves  her dogs and to be active in the outdoors, hence the dogs and bikes :-)

above the entertainment center we added floating shelves to make the illusion of a taller entertainment center. As I mentioned before Sally had the entertainment center, couch, chairs coffee table and rug, she really had great pieces to start with, which made my work so much easier.  I rearranged everything and added finishing touches like more cushions, curtains and accessories that now made her apartment lived in, cozy and welcoming.

I had some fun "dyi-ng" the wine cork projects in the dinning room wall art. As for the dinning table I carried the living room color palette through, and mixed patterns and textures going for a fancy meets rustic and casual look.

I had such an awesome time doing what I love for Sally, and I am happy that Daisy and Canelo (Sally's baby dogs) approved our work :-)

I think Sally will have great dinner parties at her apartment now ;-)
