Mardi Gras Party

My husband is from New Orleans so when we were looking for an excuse to host a party Mardi Gras seemed like a good one.
For decorations, I used this beautiful gold and white fabric for the backdrop, from this picture you can't really appreciate it, but its gorgeous.
I added beads from my christmas tree and some purple fringe and a feather boa and called it a 1920's carnival theme mardi gras! ha! I kept it pretty simple but I can imagine this theme for a more elaborate party being pretty gorgeous!

This picture I took before the party. I didn't have time/forgot to take a picture of the complete table once it was set up, I am thinking I need/want a personal photographer. Anyways, I also accessorized our china cabinet with tinsel, feathers masks and beads.

 as well as the mantel,

I placed masks, these cute top hats that my grandmother in law sent me and beads for the guests to use/play with.

For the food my mother in law sent us king cake and beignet mix and my grandmother in law sent us Pat O'brien hurricane mix and more king cake mix, they like to spoil us.
I made jambalaya, cajun BBQ shrimp,  and mini mufalletas. I made the olive mix from scratch following this recipe  I kept it on the side for those who didn't like olives but it was a hit! I happened to  find Zapp's potato chips at world market the day before the party, they were also a favorite.

This is my friend Chaeli who got the baby from the king cake, she's one lucky gal!

One of our friends brought these cute mint chocolate with crowns, perfect for the mardi gras theme! :-)

In summary, we had a really good time or should I say Bon temps!

Happy Mardi Gras!!
